Car Shooting in Singapore

What I really meant to say by the title of this post was about taking pictures of super cars,  fast cars, or of something with four wheels and hopefully fast, as I leisurely walked through Singapore during the GP weekend.

We all know there are many people who can afford a super car in this city. Thus, super cars and luxury cars are everywhere. If I remember right, given a certain time such as an hour sitting in Orchard Road, I’d already seen maybe an average of three super cars. In actual, that might even be offensive to the people in Singapore for me not noticing my surroundings of the many other super cars that pass by. Mind you, not all the cars in this post are all that I’ve seen. I certainly missed taking a shot of the Lambos and McLarens for many reasons. Anyway, I did get some pictures of the “common” super cars in Singapore.  Either they are common or they are just the same ones roaming around the city. So I hope I did some good, in a mediocre “speedhunter” style of way.

And just so you know, this idea came from a friend when he lent me his camera for the weekend. His only request was to take pictures like these since he couldn’t join the fun.

Up first is a Ferrari F430 taking a turn into Orchard Road.

Next up is a Porsche 911 Coupe sitting around.

The Law is always around and they have their Subaru Impreza Patrols to do some work if needed.

Another Ferrari, this time parked in front of one of the malls.

Last time I manned this post, there was a Porsche GT3 at that parking spot. A Mercedes owned the spot then.

DSC06381

One block away from the race track was a Maserati Gran Turismo MC Stradale heading the same way in front of the Carlton Hotel.

When I headed for the Marina Bay Circuit, outside City Hall parked a black and a white FIA officials Audi SUVs.

Inside the gates of the the circuit shown is the GP2 Formula car on blue Pirellis. It rained Friday afternoon.

DSC06450

That means a wet race official’s BMW 3 series had to be alert just in case of any unwanted collisions on the slippery track.

Meanwhile in Bishan, their community center held a speed carnival with displays and activities for the F1 weekend. Parked were Singapore’s Formula BMWs.

Also on display was a local race saloon, Honda Integra.

DSC06525

One of the most expensive rides around the city, but also probably the quickest… were these cabs driven by Romain Grosjean.

No way was I missing out on the Ferrari 458 Challenge during race weekend.

Motorsport Junk in a Red Cube

So what is a red cube?

Practically, it’s a walk-in dresser for motorsports enthusiast.

So this is a fashion blog now?

It’s still about motorsports, and in a F1 weekend a lot of stuff does happen around here prior to the race weekend. The Red Cube is Puma’s Motorsports apparel shop and they do support three teams in F1. Scuderia Ferrari and Mercedes AMG Petronas are their big teams in Formula 1 and their front act to market the motorsport campaign of the Puma brand.

The Red Cube was located in Raffles Place, Singapore. It was close to the Gate 3 entrance of the Marina Bay track.

Outside showed also a museum style merchandise showroom.

Fernando Alonso with some time pieces below.

BMW Motorsports also had a lot of merchandise highlighted from their GT races.

Poster boy, Nico, with Mercedes apparel on his left and BMW Motorsport on his right, while Ferrari on the foreground.

More tick-tocks to note the fast cars’ lap times.

Some EVO Speeds with a giant one. Size 48?

More shoes for the driving lifestyle.

Start wearing some driving kicks!

McLaren F1 Display in Orchard Road

It’s always a cool sighting to see a Formula One car lounging around in one of Singapore’s busiest malling district. The McLaren Formula 1 car was on display and sponsored by Tag Heuer to highlight the race weekend in the lion city.

It was awesome to see it fresh in the morning, even with plastic covering still this huge die-cast look-a-like.

Good Morning McLaren F1!

Last day of the Early Bird Ticket Prices for the 2012 F1 SG GP

Today marks the last day of the early bird promo for the 2012 Formula 1 Singtel Singapore   Grand Prix. So if you are planning to go to the rumored final Singapore Night Grand Prix, then today would be your last chance for discounted ticket rates.

Last year, we had a blast with the Zone 4 walkabout tickets. So here are some of our highlights from last year’s 2011 Singapore Grand Prix.

2011 Singapore Grand Prix – Day 2 “F1 Fan Boy”

GOPR0066

All set for the day 2 of the racing action in Singapore, we started out the day with a birthday cake for our Singaporean friend who let us crash in her place over the weekend and some local chili crab cuisine to heighten our already spiced up day that was ahead of us.

DSC03016

A happy birthday to all of us since you could consider the weekend a party with all the festivities. Birthday cake for breakfast…

DSC03055

…chili crabs for brunch to help us get through the day.

DSC03082

As soon as we entered gate 3, the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Race was ongoing. We watched between turns 8 and 9.

IMG_0765

I was wondering why a V8 NASCAR was in a Formula One event, I nevertheless had a picture with the first celebrity I saw that day, Lightning McQueen. I guess Francesco Bernoulli was hanging out with the Ferrari guys that weekend.

DSC03085

We went to get our Fan Zone passes to see Shakira’s abs and hips and uhm… more at a good vantage. People say it would be a hit that night.

DSC03107

Yes we did become Red Bull fan boys wearing our red bull party hats while trying out the Singapore Grand Prix circuit in a simulator that had a tripod hydraulic type stand. (Watch out for future posts on more of the F1 simulators).

IMG_0792

After that stint of a simulator we figured that we had enough practice to go try out the daddy of F1 simulators that day. But wait! Who’s that inside?

IMG_0796

Why it’s ex-formula 1 Malaysian driver Alex Yoong and I got star struck at that moment so I forgot to have a picture with him.

IMG_0802

So I figured I’d just have to beat his record on the F1 Singtel Singapore simulator on a one lap try. Tss… Alex what was his name again? Haha.

IMG_0815

Not impressing too well in the F1 simulator made me want to watch the Pro’s again so when I was headed to watch Practice 3, for some reason I was drawn to these colorful looking Brazilian women.

IMG_0814

Ah yes, now I remember the reason why.

IMG_0816

I meant the real reason why, and too bad I didn’t get too see them shaking it anymore.

IMG_0860

Too good however was Sebastien Vettel showing good form to get ready for that night’s qualifying. He was third in Practice 3.

DSC03160

Turn 4 shows a better view of all the Formula 1 Cars passing by, here we have double world champion Fernando Alonso.

DSC03173

Jenson Button was also doing great in position 2 of practice 3.

IMG_0879

We then headed to Padang Stage to watch the concert in between the practice and qualifying sessions. While waiting we watched practice 3 finish up with Mark Webber setting the fastest time.

DSC03309

We then witnessed a truly world class performance by Shakira who proved that her hips don’t really lie.

IMG_0939

We went to Esplanade to watch Qualifying 3 wrap up, since this place did not just have the awesome sounds of the F1 reaching top speeds but also a big screen with audio to know what was happening live. Vettel eventually got his 11th pole of the season and the 26th in his career.

GOPR0073

And so with that, we end day two with a toast of Singapore’s Tiger beer by the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Cheers!
